High Resolution Upscale
Upscale your images 2x or 4x with AI-powered detail enhancement.
Low-resolution images don't have to stay that way. The Upscale tool lets you increase image resolution by 2x or 4x while preserving — and often enhancing — fine details.
The current output will be generated at 2x resolution.
When to Use Upscale
Upscaling is useful in several scenarios:
- Source images are too small for print or high-res display
- AI-generated thumbnails need to be expanded for production use
- Old or low-quality assets need a resolution boost
- You need a consistent base resolution before feeding images into other tools like Inpaint or Relight
How to Access
Select any image node on the canvas, then click the Upscale button in the node toolbar. The tool panel opens with two main settings.
Settings
Upscale Factor: Choose between 2x and 4x. 2x doubles the width and height (4x total pixels). 4x quadruples both dimensions (16x total pixels). Higher factors take more processing time but deliver significantly more detail.
Model Selection: Different upscaling models specialize in different image types:
- Standard — balanced for general photography and mixed content
- Detail — optimized for illustrations, textures, and line art
- Faces — tuned for portrait photography and character close-ups
Workflow Tips
Start with 2x upscale to evaluate quality, then decide whether 4x is worth the additional processing time. For batch workflows, connect a Text node that specifies your preferred upscale settings, then reference it from the Upscale node.
Limitations
Upscaling cannot add detail that was never in the source image. Very low resolution sources (under 200px) may produce blurry results even at 2x. For best results, start with the highest quality source available.
Best Practices
- Check the source image sharpness before upscaling
- Use the Detail model for vector art and diagrams
- For portraits, always use the Faces model
- Compare before and after by zooming to 100% on the canvas
