Relight

The Relight tool gives you control over the lighting in your image. Adjust the direction, warmth, and intensity of light sources and see the results update in real time on a 3D preview of the scene.

When to Use Relight

• Fix poor lighting in photos taken with flat or unflattering light
• Match lighting across multiple assets in a composite
• Create mood — warm golden hour light, cool blue tones, dramatic shadows
• Product photography — highlight contours and textures

How to Access

Select an image node and click the Relight button in the toolbar. The panel opens with a 3D preview sphere and lighting controls.

Lighting Controls

Light Direction: Drag the light source around the 3D preview sphere. The light position maps directly onto your image, showing how shadows and highlights shift in real time.

Color Temperature: Adjust from cool blue (6500K) to warm orange (3200K). Cool light works for clinical, moody, or night scenes. Warm light suits portraits, interiors, and golden hour looks.

Intensity: Controls the brightness of the light source. Higher intensity creates stronger shadows and more contrast. Lower intensity produces a softer, more diffuse look.

Ambient Light: The fill light that controls overall scene brightness. Raise ambient light to reduce shadow harshness without moving the main light.

Workflow Tips

• Start with light direction before adjusting color or intensity
• Use the 3D preview to understand how lighting maps to the image
• Combine with other tools — relight a portrait before cutout for cleaner edges
• For dramatic looks, use a single strong light source with low ambient fill

Best Practices

• Match light direction to the existing scene logic (sunlight, room lighting)
• Keep color temperature natural unless creating a stylistic effect
• Use subtle adjustments for photorealism; go bold for stylized art
