Canvas Collaboration

Canvas Collaboration adds a live session layer to the existing share-link workflow. Instead of sending a static reference, you can invite reviewers into the same canvas session and see who is currently inside.

What Canvas Collaboration does

A shared canvas link now behaves like a lightweight review room. When multiple people open the same link at the same time, Musein can:

• load the same shared canvas for everyone
• show who is currently in the session
• indicate whether a collaborator is browsing or selecting nodes
• keep the page read-only so review links do not accidentally change the source canvas

This is especially useful for creative reviews, client walkthroughs, and team handoff meetings where everyone needs to look at the same graph.

Start a live collaboration session

The setup is intentionally simple:

• open the main canvas toolbar and choose Share Link
• copy the generated URL
• send that link to teammates or reviewers
• ask everyone to open it during the same review window

Once multiple viewers join the same shared canvas, their presence appears in the top-right corner of the shared page.

Read the presence panel

Each avatar in the presence stack represents another person currently inside the same shared session.

• if someone is only navigating, the status is Browsing
• if someone selects one node, the status becomes Selecting 1 node
• if someone selects multiple nodes, the status shows the current count

Hover an avatar to check who it is and what they are focusing on. This makes it easier to review dense canvases without repeatedly asking which node someone is talking about.

Understand the editing model

The current collaboration session is designed for safe review first.

• the shared page opens in read-only mode
• reviewers can inspect the live canvas together without changing the original project
• if someone wants to continue from that shared state, they can use Clone Project to create their own editable copy

This split keeps public review links lightweight while still giving collaborators a clear next step when they need to branch into production work.

Choose the right handoff path

Canvas Collaboration works best together with the other collaboration tools in Musein.

• use Share Canvas when you want a quick live review link
• use Clone Project when a reviewer wants to continue independently
• use Ownership Transfer when a project should move between personal and team scopes
• use Team Collaboration when the work should stay inside an ongoing team workspace

Best practices for shared review sessions

• rename important nodes before sharing so collaborators can orient faster
• open the link yourself first and confirm the canvas version you want to discuss
• ask reviewers to select the node they are discussing instead of describing it verbally
• clone before editing if the review branch should not affect the original shared canvas
