Erase
Quickly brush away unwanted content and let AI fill the gap automatically.
The Erase tool removes unwanted content from your images with a simple brush stroke. Unlike Inpaint, Erase requires no prompt — the AI intelligently fills the erased area based on the surrounding pixels.
When to Use Erase
Erase is the quickest way to clean up images:
- Dust spots and sensor artifacts from photography
- Small blemishes or stray marks
- Watermarks and logos on simple backgrounds
- Text overlays that need to be removed quickly
How It Works
Select an image node and click Erase in the toolbar. A brush overlay appears. Paint over the content you want to remove, then click Apply. The AI analyzes the surrounding area and generates filler content that matches the texture, lighting, and pattern.
No Prompt Needed
The key difference from Inpaint is simplicity. Erase works entirely from visual context. The AI looks at what's around the erased region — nearby textures, colors, gradients — and reconstructs what would naturally be there.
This makes Erase faster for quick clean-ups but less suitable for creative replacement. If you need to change what appears in a region rather than just remove something, use Inpaint instead.
Brush Tips
- Use the smallest brush that covers the unwanted element
- For thin lines (like power cables or text), paint a stroke along the line
- For spots, a single click is often enough
- If the result looks unnatural, undo and paint a slightly larger area
When Erase Falls Short
- Large objects on complex backgrounds may leave artifacts
- Faces or body parts require Inpaint for proper reconstruction
- Patterns with strong geometry may not reconstruct cleanly
- For these cases, switch to Inpaint with a descriptive prompt
