Inpaint

The Inpaint tool lets you selectively replace parts of an image by painting over them. The AI regenerates only the painted area, blending seamlessly with the surrounding content.

When to Use Inpaint

Inpaint is ideal for precise local edits:

• Remove unwanted objects such as power lines, logos, or photobombers
• Replace elements like swapping a product background or changing clothing
• Fix imperfections in generated images
• Modify specific regions without affecting the rest of the image

How to Access

Select an image node and click the Inpaint button in the node toolbar. A brush overlay appears on the image.

Brush Controls

Brush Size: Adjust the radius of your brush. Use a small brush for fine details and edges, a larger brush for broad areas. You can change the size with the slider or by holding a modifier key while scrolling.

Mask Mode: Two masking modes control how the brush interacts with already-painted areas:

• Add — paints new areas to regenerate
• Subtract — removes areas from the current mask

Toggle between modes to refine your selection without starting over.

Writing the Prompt

The prompt is critical for inpaint quality. Describe what you want the painted area to become, not what you want removed. For example, instead of "remove the coffee cup," write "an empty wooden desk surface."

Include context cues like lighting direction and surface texture to help the AI match the surrounding area.

Tips for Clean Results

• Paint slightly beyond the object you want to remove to give the AI enough context
• Use Subtract mode to carve out tight boundaries around complex edges
• For large areas, break the work into multiple smaller inpaint passes
• If results have seams, run a second light inpaint over the boundary
