Node Types Explained
A complete guide to every node type on the canvas and what each one is used for.
The canvas has five node types. Each one serves a specific role in your creative workflow.
Text Node
Text nodes are the most versatile type. Use them for:
- Writing prompts for generation
- Adding notes and documentation to your workflow
- Storing reference text for reuse
A text node can be connected to any generative node (image or video) as a prompt source. When you type @ in a text node, you can reference upstream image or video nodes by name.
Image Node
Image nodes hold generated or uploaded images. Each image node displays:
- The generated image with zoom and pan
- The prompt and parameters used to create it
- Tool actions: upscale, inpaint, erase, cutout, and more
Image nodes are the most feature-rich type — they support 13 different image editing tools accessible from the node toolbar.
Video Node
Video nodes hold video assets with full playback controls. They support:
- Seedance video generation with configurable duration and resolution
- Audio track toggle
- Frame-by-frame preview
- Virtual Final Cut assembly for multi-clip sequences
Video nodes are the core output type for animation and film workflows.
Audio Node
Audio nodes store sound files. Use them for:
- Voiceovers and narration
- Background music and sound effects
- Connecting to video nodes as audio tracks
Audio nodes can be linked to video nodes to combine sound with motion.
Group Node
Group nodes help organize your canvas. Drag any set of nodes into a group to:
- Collapse them into a single compact box
- Move them together as a unit
- Label the group for clarity
Groups can be nested and collapsed to keep complex workflows manageable.
