Multi-Canvas Management
Create, organize, and switch between multiple canvases in a single project.
A project can contain multiple canvases. Each canvas is an independent workspace with its own set of nodes, connections, and layout. This lets you break large workflows into manageable pieces.
Why Multiple Canvases
Working on a single canvas works well for small to medium projects. As your workflow grows, multiple canvases help you:
- Separate concerns — keep different scenes, variations, or experiments on their own canvas
- Reduce visual clutter — each canvas stays focused on a specific task
- Reuse structure — duplicate a canvas as a template for similar workflows
- Organize by phase — one canvas for ideation, another for production, another for review
Creating a New Canvas
Click the + button next to the canvas tabs at the top of the workspace. A new blank canvas appears with a default name like "Canvas 2". You can rename it immediately or later.
Canvases are listed as tabs in the workspace header. Drag tabs to reorder them. Right-click a tab to rename, duplicate, or delete the canvas.
Canvas Thumbnails
Each canvas displays a thumbnail preview in the workspace overview. The thumbnail updates automatically as you work on the canvas. This makes it easy to identify which canvas contains what at a glance.
Copying Between Canvases
Select one or more nodes on a canvas, copy them (Cmd+C / Ctrl+C), switch to another canvas tab, and paste (Cmd+V / Ctrl+V). Nodes maintain their positions, connections, and data. This is useful for reusing prompt structures or generated assets across canvases.
You can also drag nodes from one canvas tab to another if the interface supports drag-and-drop between tabs.
Canvas Settings
Each canvas has its own settings panel accessible from the canvas tab menu:
- Rename — give the canvas a descriptive name
- Duplicate — create a copy including all nodes and connections
- Delete — remove the canvas and all its contents (with confirmation)
Folder Organization
In the workspace sidebar, canvases can be grouped into folders. Create folders by project phase, client name, or any system that fits your workflow. Folders can be collapsed and expanded, and you can drag canvases between folders.
Best Practices
- Use descriptive canvas names like "Scene 1 — Hero Shot" instead of "Canvas 3"
- Archive completed canvases in a separate folder rather than deleting them immediately
- Set a consistent naming convention across your team
- Use one canvas as a "template" with reusable node structures
