Seedance 2.0 Character Images: Validate Before Submitting Video
Select a character image and start validation from the toolbar or context menu. If it fails, read the reason before adjusting the image.
Before using a character image in Seedance 2.0 video, check its character-compliance result. See the result first, then decide whether the asset needs changes.
Select the image on the canvas and choose Validate Character to see its status. Both the toolbar and right-click menu provide the action.
Select the image, choose Validate Character and wait. Address the stated reason if it fails; if it passes, still check all other video inputs and parameters.
Before you start

A western traveller: choose a clear character image first
The example is a fictional western traveller with short auburn hair, freckles, a brown jacket and a pale shirt. Choose a clear face and a well-defined design, then submit through the character-validation entry. This teaching image has not been checked by Seedance. Showing it here does not mean it passed or that a later video will succeed.
Prepare a close-up of the western traveller
Adapt the imported text to your project. This starts with an image composition; the illustration is not attached and generation does not start automatically.

Image nodes containing a character and sourced from an HTTP URL display compliance status:
- Not checked — no compliance check has run
- Checking — compliance check is running
- Passed — this character check passed; verify other inputs and parameters before video submission
- Failed — image failed the compliance check
Two ways to validate
Toolbar button
Select an image node and choose Validate Character in its floating toolbar. The request is sent immediately and the result updates live.
Right-click menu
Right-click the image node and choose Validate Character. This is useful on a crowded canvas.
Visible status feedback
A green check badge appears beside the node title after a pass, both on the canvas and in the sidebar list. A spinner indicates an ongoing check.
A notification reports the result. A failed check includes the specific reason so you can see what needs changing.
If it fails, read the reason first
- Check whether the node is unchecked, checking, passed or failed.
- Read the notification's failure reason before editing the image.
- A passed character check does not remove the need to check the other video inputs and parameters.
Follow: choose image → validate character → read result. Wait while checking. If it fails, address the stated problem before treating the image as ready.
